The Teaching with Heart, Fire & Poetry website’s mission is to inspire and support teachers, and to honor and thank them for the work that they do.
Teaching is worthy and rewarding. By many measures, it is also the toughest — and the most important — job in America. To do it well, takes an ongoing and ever-fascinating conversation that engages the heart, mind, and spirit
In our books, Teaching with Heart, Leading from Within, and Teaching with Fire, we sought to foster such a conversation. In the books, teachers speak about who they are, why they do what they do, and how they keep their heart and commitment alive in their teaching. We asked teachers to reflect on these questions because we believe that what inspires and impassions teachers is worth sharing.
Through the Teachers Blog and the Teachers Talk Interviews, we hope to continue that important conversation: by creating a space where you can reflect on the challenges, achievements, struggles and delights of your work and life, a place where you can discuss and discover how to keep your heart engaged in teaching.
Here are the many ways you can participate. Check them out, send in your submissions and join in the conversation! If you have any questions, please contact us.
To fulfill our mission to honor and thank teachers, we created the Thank You, Teachers Project, a heart-felt project to lift up our world’s teachers – one thank you letter at a time. All the Thank You Letters created through this project will be formatted and posted on our Thank You Letters Gallery wall. By publicly thanking these teachers – by recognizing the exceptional and difficult work they do each and every day – we honor and celebrate all teachers!
We hope you’ll join us in sending a wave of gratitude to teachers across the country by posting a letter on our Gallery wall (at no charge) or sending a letter and gift book package to a special teacher in your life. Parents are encouraged to help their children participate.
We look forward to hearing from you and together creating a lively and meaningful community of inspiration and support for teachers everywhere.
