Thank You Teachers
Dear Ms. Coates,
While it’s been many years since my daughter was in your first grade class, I still remember your welcoming
presence on the playground each morning as the children lined up for school. As I walked my daughter up to
join you in line, you would bend down so that your face was on her level, give her a lovely smile, say a kind
word and take her hand. Those simple, kind gestures made all the difference to a shy child and her mother.
And I know that same love and spirit infused all your teaching.
Thank you for all that you give your students each and every day.
Best,
Megan Scribner
Notes about Thank You, Teachers:
We want to celebrate the spirit and courage of the millions of teachers
who each and every day, despite many challenges and obstacles, strive to “lift a lamp” in their
classrooms. We want to create a wave of gratitude that lifts all teachers. We want to create a
place where people can lift up teachers not tear them down, to celebrate not denigrate!
The Thank You, Teachers Project creates an online space where people can post thank you
letters to the special teachers in their life. By publicly thanking these teachers – by recognizing
the exceptional and difficult work they do each and every day – we honor and celebrate all
teachers!
Write you own Thank You Teacher letter.
