Center for Courage & Renewal - Teaching with Heart, Fire and Poetry

Poetry as a source of reflection and dialogue is one of the many practices you’ll discover via the Center for Courage & Renewal a nonprofit founded by Parker J. Palmer, author of The Courage to Teach: Exploring the Inner Landscape of a Teacher’s Life (and other books).

The Center for Courage & Renewal sponsored many of the books on this website, including: Teaching with Heart, Leading from Within, and Teaching with Fire. A significant portion of the royalties from the poetry books go to support programs at the Center.

More than books, the Center also offers professional development and personal renewal programs and a variety of inspiring resources for teachers and leaders.

Please help support our efforts to inspire, support and thank teachers. Managing the website and creating, editing, and sharing the blog posts takes a great deal of time. This is all done on a volunteer basis — so any and all support would be greatly appreciated! (FYI, this support is not tax-deductible.)
