woman-looking-at-lake-teachingheartfirepoetry.com-back-at-itThe editor’s life, or at least mine, is episodic. Projects come and go, and when they’re on, they’re really on. I relish the deep dives into these editing projects, immersing myself in someone else’s ideas and writing, finding their voice and style, learning as I go.

The past six months have been a series of such projects. I’m just now coming back to the surface and attending to the many things that were left to float on their own during that time. This blog and its Book Giveaways are two such pieces.

To be honest, I feel a bit rusty and somewhat hesitant about jumping back in as these efforts can also be time consuming. But at the same time, I’m also looking forward to being back at it. I enjoy the interactions and it feels important to do what I can to provide a space for civil and thoughtful conversation about things that matter, something that seems to be in short supply these days.

So I invite you – teachers, poets, and others – to send in short reflections (250-800 words) on teaching, the teacher’s life, and other topics that are in your heart and on your mind. Once your submission is accepted, I’ll work with you to create your post for our blog and then share it via Facebook and twitter.

Interested? I hope so. Here are some suggestions and guidelines – but also feel free to email me directly with your questions and ideas at teachingwithheartfirepoetry@gmail.com.

I’m also starting up the Book Giveaways again. As a special thank you to our subscribers, each month I will give away one or two autographed books by a wide range of authors and poets. The winners are picked randomly at the end of each giveaway.

Simply sign-up for our blog — one blog post will be sent to your inbox each week — and you will be entered into the monthly drawings for our Book Giveaways.

Thanks for your patience and understanding for the lack of posts these past six months.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Megan
