The Teaching with Heart, Fire & Poetry website was inspired by our experience working on Teaching with Heart, Leading from Within, and Teaching with Fire. In these books, teachers speak about who they are, why they do what they do, and how they keep their heart and commitment alive in their teaching.

We asked teachers to reflect on these questions because we believe that what inspires, what impassions teachers is worth sharing.

We created this website and the Teachers Blog to create a space where teachers could share reflections on teaching and the teacher’s life – to extend the conversation begun in the books.

The Teachers Blog is open to all educators: public and private K-12 teachers, principals, superintendents, college professors, as well as non-traditional teachers. It’s open to educators from all levels of experience – first year teachers, mid-career veterans, and those who have retired after decades in the classroom.

Send us your reflections on teaching and the teacher’s life, thoughts about education today, commentaries on poems, or stories about how you’ve used poetry in your classroom, with your colleagues, and beyond. Check out We Want You for more details and guidelines on how to join in the conversation.

In addition to your blog posts, we will periodically post stories and poems from Teaching with Heart, Leading from Within, and Teaching with Fire and reflections about these books that help deepen the conversation about teaching and the teacher’s life.

Please let us know if you have ideas of how to make this site work for you and other ways you’d like to contribute. We’ll do our best to take on as many ideas as possible.  Contact us at teachingwithheartfirepoetry@gmail.com.

We look forward to hearing from you!
